Brian Innes is the founder of Innes College Advising and a dedicated Independent Educational Consultant who helps students and families navigate the college application process with clarity, confidence, and success.

Brian’s journey into college advising began while serving as an assistant principal at a high school in New York City. Faced with a senior class of 50 students who had no access to a college advisor, Brian stepped in to fill the gap. In just a few short months, he helped students build balanced college lists, craft compelling personal essays, complete their FAFSA applications, and submit strong applications—an experience that sparked his passion for this work.

In 2020, Brian founded Innes College Advising to expand that impact beyond a single school community. Since then, he has guided dozens of students and families through every stage of the admissions journey—from early planning to final decisions. His students have earned acceptances to a wide range of colleges and universities, including highly selective institutions.

Brian is known for his personalized, student-centered approach. He works to understand each student’s strengths and goals, ensuring every application tells an authentic story, while helping families make sense of an increasingly complex admissions process.
